The Blog and Essay that Started it All
How did we get here? Well, first I killed my parents. Jk.
In 2010, I started My Dead Parents, an anonymous blog where I posted the letters and photos I found when I cleaned out my childhood home, explored the intense and evolving feelings I experienced after my parents' deaths, asked questions about myself and my family and chronicled my attempts to answer them. In 2013, BuzzFeed asked me to write an essay about the project, and the response was so encouraging that I decided to go all in. Though I barely updated the blog while I was researching and writing the book, I've kept it alive for those who want to see the project in its original, unpolished form and peruse the materials that got me excited to write it in the first place.
